First Thursday is my favorite event of the month. It's basically an art crawl of the galleries and also where I get to see most of my friends all in one place for the evening. I really enjoyed this month's First Thursday at Anastasia & Friends, partly because we were able to provide an in depth interview with Susan Lenz in her amazing home.
"PLAYA: A Month in Paradise" a solo exhibition by Susan Lenz is on display at Anastasia & Friends for the entire month of February so feel free to stop by and check it out. This is Susan's first public showing of work made and inspired by a unique, four-week art residency at PLAYA in the remote, Oregon “Outback”.
Susan definitely brought in a good sized crowd on First Thursday and she is an absolute pleasure to converse with. That's one of the reasons I like going to Anastasia & Friends because it has such a varied and interesting crowd of people. Should you ever travel by the Elmwood area, stop by Susan's studio home, The Mouse House - it is a visual feast of her handiwork and should definitely be visited in person.
You can read more about this show on Facebook and even more about her work at Susan Lenz Installations & Contemporary Embroidery.
